History |
Gospel Hill started to become a reality when Jeannette and I began praying, working, and clearing land in the summer of 1973. The name Gospel Hill was chosen and the portion of land selected at that time.
In 1974 the Lord led me to ask a few dedicated Christians to become a part of the ministry. These people would serve in different areas of ministry, help with the physical work, and be vessels to allow the Holy Spirit to make the vision come alive. Gospel Hill is a non-denominational Christian Ministry that the Lord instructed me to organize in 1973 as I have previously stated. The purpose is to BRING HONOR AND GLORY TO ALMIGHTY GOD through the preaching and singing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Gospel Hill was incorporated as a ministry in 1974 and received tax exempt status (IRS) in 1980. Gospel Hill is not just another church, but a working ministry that is a part of HIS CHURCH. The first phase was that of GOSPEL SINGING at our open-air place of worship in June, 1974; the first out-of-state crusade was preached in 1976; "The Light" started with its' first issue in January, 1978. The Rest Home Visitation has been active since 1981; in 1975 we started broadcasting the GOSPEL HILL RADIO PROGRAM; our first Mission Support was in 1979; we began in Haiti in 1982. The first Sunday morning service was held in 1979 and the prayer request ministry was started in 1975. The history of this ministry continues as the Holy Spirit guides us daily. Pray for the future of this ministry. |
Vision |
The Gospel Hill Ministry is the manifestation of the vision that the Lord Jesus Christ gave me many years ago. When I was in my early teens I used to walk the top of this hill and talk to God. There were trees, brush, briars and rocks where we now have what we call Gospel Hill. This vision was first a "dream-type hope" of a child, but as I grew older and closer to God, I understood it was not a "day dream" but a vision. God then spoke to me about what He wanted as a ministry for Him, on this hilltop. The vision had many parts. Some of those have been fulfilled, others yet to come.
The vision was of a ministry, not a church. Because of that, Gospel Hill is different from a local church. A local church or denomination is based upon the traditions and/or doctrine of man; Gospel Hill is based upon a vision given to a man. It is to be the ministry of Jesus Christ working through organization and not an organization working through the ministry of Jesus Christ. It is an outreach ministry with different phases that allow the total vision to become real and effective for the Lord. Many people have plugged into this vision and have been a valuable part of the ministry. Their work, input, help, talent, cooperation, and prayers have certainly been a factor in the success of Gospel Hill. Other people have been on the receiving end. They have been ministered to, saved, healed, blessed, and truly touched by Jesus, which helps confirm the validity of the vision. The vision that God gave me is being fulfilled, in part, through different phases of ministry. Such areas as Sunday Morning Services; Saturday Gospel Singing at Open-air Services in the summer; Crusades; Gospel Hill Radio Program; Tape Ministry; Rest Home Visitation; Pastoral Care; Teachings of the Word; Youth Ministry; Booklets; The Light; Prayer Request Ministry; Missions, etc. These phases are channels for the Holy Spirit to bring salvation, healing, blessing, and His power to thousands of people. Volunteers who are willing to put these phases into action by giving of their time and talents are who the Lord is using. Without these people, the vision that the Lord gave me could not work. When the vision of a working ministry was given to me the scripture in John 14:12 was impressed upon me greatly, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto My Father". This led me to make the ministry an outreach work of God, not just a local church or a ministry centered around a group of people. Jesus is the center of all the phases of the Gospel Hill Ministry. A vision in 1976 of a lighthouse on top of Gospel Hill became a reality in 2003. Click on The Lighthouse page to see it and for more information. The Lord reminds me that I must not lose the vision. There must be a prayerful, continuous move forward toward all that is yet to be accomplished. With our eyes on Jesus and remembering the call, in the vision, we will please God and see great things happen. |
